About the project
The project titled "Legal Analysis of Russia's Actions in Ukraine Since 2014 in Terms of Crimes of Aggression, War Crimes and Genocide, and Legal Solutions of Countries Neighbouring Ukraine Regarding the Status of Ukrainian Citizens" constitutes a comprehensive approach to the legal analysis of Russian aggression against Ukraine. The research will cover the time from the annexation of the Crimea in 2014 and military operations in Donbas to the current situation, a full-scale war unleashed by Russia.
Experts will focus on three key areas: assessment of Russia's actions from the perspective of international law, analysis of the legal status of Ukrainian citizens during the conflict, and examining the EU's migration policy and its effectiveness towards Ukrainian citizens. Issues of international responsibility and the possibility of prosecuting crimes under international law, including crimes of aggression, genocide and crimes against humanity, will also be considered.
The project involves international research cooperation, bringing together experts from various countries, including Poland, Ukraine, Romania, Moldova, Bulgaria, Hungary, Georgia, Macedonia and Norway. The joint effort aims to create thorough analyses and expert opinions that will be published on the project website in three languages: Polish, English and Ukrainian.
The project also aims to increase public awareness of the situation in Ukraine, including distinguishing reliable information from disinformation. Regular publication of the analyses and reports is planned and they will be available on the project website and social media.
The ultimate goal of the project is to develop common practices and patterns of action that will be useful for countries neighbouring Ukraine and for the broader international community in understanding and responding to the challenges related to Russia's aggression against Ukraine.
